Central Georgia EMC 72nd Annual Meeting Summary
Central Georgia Electric Membership Corporation held its 72nd Annual Meeting of Members at the Central Georgia EMC Annex Courtyard in Butts County, Georgia at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2009. Registration began at 8:00 a.m. and by 9:00 a.m., a quorum had registered.
Mr. D. T. Hamil, Chairman of the Board, thanked the Redman Family for providing the entertainment. The meeting was called to order, and Mr. Hamil announced that five hundred, eighty (580) members were registered for the meeting. The invocation for the meeting was provided by Reverend Joe Bufford who is the pastor at First Baptist Church in Jackson.
Mr. Hamil introduced the Board of Directors. Mr. Weaver was asked to recognize the special guests in attendance. A report on products and services offered to members and an update on power supply was presented by Mr. Weaver.
Mr. Randy Nichols, CPA, affirmed that Central Georgia EMC was a strong financial organization with total assets growing from $176 million in 2007 to over $182 million in 2008. The corporation's total equity was over $61 million. In 2008, over $800 thousand was returned to the customers in the form of capital credits. The financial position of CGEMC remains solid.
Mr. D. T. Hamil, representing Spalding, Lamar, and Pike Counties (Post No. 1); Mr. J. O. Colwell , representing Butts County; and Mr. Phillip Ham, Jr., representing Monroe and Bibb Counties, each of whom were unopposed, were reelected by acclamation for three-year terms each.
At the close of the business session, members participated in the drawing of prizes, a picnic lunch of grilled hot dogs, potato chips, ice cream sandwiches, and soft drinks. The Redman Family, from Jackson entertained the crowd.
