Central Georgia EMC Announces 2010 Rebate Program
Homeowners across America are looking for ways to reduce their monthly utility bill. The best way to lower your energy consumption is to improve the efficiency of your home. Energyefficient choices can save families about a third on their energy bill. If looking for new household products, or to make small household improvements, look for the Energy Star. These products meet strict energy-efficiency guidelines set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department
of Energy.
CGEMC offers a variety of programs to help you save even more when buying Energy Star products.
Existing Home Rebates
Energy-efficient Programmable Thermostat Rebate
CGEMC offers a 50 percent rebate (up to $25 per thermostat,
maximum two per home) on the cost of a programmable thermostat.
Energy Star-recommend Attic Insulation Upgrade Rebate
CGEMC offers a 50 percent rebate (up to $200 maximum per
home) on the cost of upgrading attic insulation to Energy
Star-recommended levels of R-39 and above.
Energy Star-recommended Preseason HVAC Tuneup Rebate
CGEMC offers a $30 rebate to have a preseason tuneup performed on a residential central air conditioner in the spring
(available April 1, 2010, through June 30, 2010) and a $30
rebate to have a preseason tuneup performed on a residential
heat pump in the fall (available Sept. 1, 2010, through Nov.
30, 2010). (Maximum one rebate per season, per household.)
New Home Rebates
CGEMC is offering an energy-efficiency rebate for new construction homes with total electric service. The new home
rebate is to encourage members to build Energy Star-qualified
homes with Energy Star-qualified electric heat pumps and electric water heaters.
Central Georgia EMC will pay $400 per home for an Energy
Star-qualified, total-electric home constructed in 2010 with:
- An Energy Star label issued by an independent home
- energy rater
- An Energy Star-qualified electric heat pump
- An electric water heater (CGEMC recommends Marathon Water Heaters)
- Load management switches on heat pump and electric water heater.
Central Georgia EMC will pay $200 per home for a total-electric home constructed in 2010 with:
- An Energy Star-qualified electric heat pump
- An electric water heater (CGEMC recommends Marathon Water Heaters)
- Load management switches on heat pump and electric water heater
All Central Georgia EMC 2010 rebates are subject to change without notice. Rebates will end on Dec. 31, 2010, unless otherwise noted.
