A prepaid plan offers the opportunity to pay when you want, in the amounts you want. Instead of receiving a traditional paper bill that is generated once each month, usage is calculated daily. Prepaid customers never pay a late charge.
No deposit required when you choose the prepaid option.
New customers wishing to participate in the prepaid metering program are not required to pay a deposit. Only a $50 minimum credit balance is required at the time service is requested, in addition to the standard membership fee, and account establishment fee.
What if I am a current customer and want to switch to prepaid?
Current customers are welcome to switch from conventional monthly billing to prepaid. Any existing deposits can be applied to the prepaid account.
Will I receive a monthly bill?
Prepaid accounts do not receive a monthly statement because energy is calculated daily. You will receive an electronic newsletter each month that will keep you up-to-date with current news from CGEMC.
How much money should I keep in my prepaid account?
Prepaid is a self-managed program that gives you flexibility for budgeting. Purchase enough energy to last until payday, or you can buy enough to last several months.
How do I make payments?
Payments can be made in person, by telephone, online, or with the Mobile App.
How will I know if my balance is low?
As a prepaid customer, you will choose how you wish to be notified of your current use and balance. You may choose email, text messages, or keep track of your information using our Mobile App or Customer Portal.
If I switch to prepaid, do I lose my capital credits?
No! Customer-owners accumulate Capital Credits based on bylaws set forth by the board of directors, the prepaid plan does not change this.
