Central Georgia Electric Membership Corporation currently reports power outages affecting 6,103 customers. At the height of the outage, more than 27,000 customers were without power.
Restoration efforts are ongoing, with 50 construction crews and 30 right-of-way crews working throughout our territory to restore service and more reinforcements are expected. We continue to find broken poles as roads are cleared. The broken pole total is now up to 334. Progress is slow as we have heavy tree clearing involved at most sites with extensive damage
“I personally toured some of the storm-affected areas today, and the damage in our territory is some of the worst I’ve seen in my experience with Central Georgia EMC,” said George L. Weaver, President/CEO. “Our employees and communities are resilient, and we will continue to work safely and efficiently to ensure power is restored to our customers.”
Your patience and cooperation during outages are always appreciated as our crews work continuously to restore everyone's power. Rest assured that office employees are also working hard to monitor all incoming phone calls and dispatch crews to many different locations as quickly as possible.
